DIPLOMA IN FOOD AND BEVERAGE PRODUCTION AND SALES MANAGEMENT

The student applying for this course must have a mean grade of C- at KCSE and must have passed in English / Kiswahili and at least a science subject. Home science subject is an added advantage.

Admission is done at the beginning of each calendar year. The course is designed to prepare the trainee for food and beverage managerial position in the industry

COURSE CONTENT

The course is practical oriented with the student expected to attend 75% without which they will not be registered for KNEC Exam. The course is as outlined:

Examination

This course takes three calendar years. After every end of a year the trainee sits for Kenya National Examination Council exam before proceeding to the next module. Internally the trainee also undertakes internal exams which include two Continuous Assessment Tests, Assignments, presentations and an end Term Exam. The marks acquired by the trainee are compiled and averaged at the end of the year and submitted to KNEC as coursework marks. KNEC exams are taken every July and November every year.

Coursework

The trainees have two practical lessons per week whereby they produce food and market it for sale besides the theory classes.

Attachment

After module two, the trainee goes for a five month attachment to various establishments that offer hospitality services like hotels and restaurants before coming back to complete module three. This is meant to expose them further to real practical experience before finally joining the industry on completion of their course.
