Craft Certificate in Tour Guiding
The student applying for this course must have a mean grade of D+ at KCSE and must have passed in English / Kiswahili. A pass in a humanity subject e.g. Geography / History is an added advantage.
Admission is done throughout the year that is in January, May and September. The course is designed impart operative and supervisory skills to the trainee.
The student expected to attend 75% without which they will not be registered for KNEC Exam. The course is as outlined:
This course takes three calendar years. After every end of a year the trainee sits for Kenya National Examination Council exam before proceeding to the next module. The trainee also undertakes internal exams which include two Continuous Assessment Tests, Assignments, presentations and an end Term Exam. The marks acquired by the trainee are compiled and averaged at the end of the year and submitted to KNEC as coursework marks. KNEC exams are taken every July and November every year.
The trainees have theory lessons which they have to attend 75% without which they will not be registered for KNEC examination at the end of the year.
After module two, the trainee goes for a five month attachment to various establishments that offer hospitality and tourism services. This is meant to expose them further to real practical situation before finally joining the industry on completion of their course
Besides classroom learning student go for trips to tourist attraction destinations, which enhance their understanding of the course content. Some of the areas of interest include;

– Kenya wildlife services
– Animal parks
– Tour companies
